ALBUM UPDATE
Silvia ist aktuell am Realisieren ihrer ersten CD Aufnahme, die sich mit Fragen der Grenzen zwischen kultureller Assimilation und Identität auseinandersetzt. Dabei kommen neben dem musikalischen Aufbruchsgeist des europäischen Frühbarock auch Werke aus Indien und Südamerika aus dem 17. und 20. Jahrhundert zum Klingen. Die meisten der ausgewählten Stücke wurden für diese Instrumente noch nie aufgenommen, zwei Lieder aus der portugiesischen Mission in Goa waren bisher nur auf dem Papier in einer Doktorarbeit in der Bibliothek zu finden.

ABOUT
Silvia Berchtolds Experimentierfreudigkeit und weitläufige Interessen haben zur Folge, dass sie als Blockflötistin in den verschiedensten, oft transdisziplinären Kontexten und Formationen anzutreffen ist. Zwischen dem gewohnten klassischen Konzertformat, Unterhaltungsmusik in der Bar, musikalischen Meditationen, Musiktheater oder interdisziplinären Projekten balanciert sie mühelos hin und her oder versucht die Grenzen aufzubrechen und Brücken zwischen den verschiedensten Genres zu schlagen. Dabei ist sie nicht nur Akteurin, sondern vielmals auch Initiantin, Organisatorin und Konzeptentwicklerin. In ihrer bedingungslosen Suche nach einer eigenen musikalischen Sprache fordert sie gewohnte Interpretationsweisen, manchmal rebellisch, manchmal höchst einfühlsam, heraus -in den Worten von The Recorder Magazine (2017):

Silvias Fokus liegt vor vor allem auf der Reflexion über neue Konzertformate und über für ihr Instrument ungewöhnliches Repertoire. Sie beschäftigte sich dabei bisher vor allem mit umwelt- und tierethischen Fragen, wie sie sich z.B. im Musiktheater Di(v)e und Clouds widerspiegeln. Auftragswerke für Doppelflöte, die u.a. in “Musik unserer Zeit” im SRF und France Musique vorgestellt wurden, zeigen ihr Interesse für die Erweiterung der Repertoire-Grenzen.
Im Bereich des klassischen Konzerts ist Silvia mit ihrem preisgekrönten Alte Musik Ensemble Tra Noi bei Festivals im europäischen Raum zu Gast. Genauere Informationen zu verschiedenen Projekten finden Sie unter der Rubrik Projekt-Galerie und unter Ensembles.
Als Solistin oder in verschiedenen Formationen spielte sie im Resonanzen Festival Wiener Konzerthaus, der Philharmonie Kaunas, bei den Musikfestspielen Potsdam, dem Alte Musikfestival Zürich, Early Music Festival London, Festival Mars En Baroque in Marseille, musica aperta Winterthur, Innsbrucker Festwochen für Alte Musik, festival musiquem Lleida u.a.

ALBUM UPDATE
Silvia is currently working on her first CD recording, which deals with questions of the boundaries between cultural assimilation and identity. In addition to the musical spirit of early European Baroque, the recording also features works from India and South America from the 17th and 20th centuries. Most of the selected pieces have never been recorded for these instruments before, and two songs from the Portuguese mission in Goa have only been found on paper in a doctoral thesis in the library.

ABOUT
Being educated as a recorder player in early and contemporary music, Silvia Berchtold's will for expression and her interests towards other art fields and different styles of music led her to becoming an active performer in several fields. In addition to performing in classical concert formats, she also stages crossover and interdisciplinary art projects, often as an initiator and creator. Currently she is expanding into the field of music theatre. In her unconditional quest for a very individual musical language, she creatively - sometimes more rebelliously, sometimes more empathetically - challenges the established tenets of recorder conventions; in the words of The Recorder Magazine (2017):

Silvia's main focus is on reflecting on new concert formats and repertoire that is unusual for her instrument. For now she was particularly concerned with environmental and animal ethical issues, as reflected in the music theatre Di(v)e and Clouds, for example. Commissioned works for double flute, which have been presented on SRF's ‘Musik unserer Zeit’ programme and on France musique, show her interest in expanding the boundaries of the repertoire.
In the field of classical concerts, Silvia performs at festivals throughout Europe with her award-winning early music ensemble Tra Noi.
